The sporting Events :
From Saturday, July 27th to Sunday, August 11th, the metropolis of Lille will host the 2024 Olympic Games. A total of 52 basketball and handball matches will take place at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium. See the detailed match schedule.
Basketball
Preliminary phase : 36 matchs from July 27th to August 4th.
Handball
Final phase : 16 matchs from August 6th to 11th.
How to get to the Olympic Site ?
The easiest way to get to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy is by using the public transport network Ilévia, particularly the 2 metro lines:
- Line 1 (M1 – yellow): 14 minutes by metro to the 4 Cantons stop, then a 15-minute walk to the stadium.
- Line 2 (M2 – red): 12 minutes by metro to the Les Près station, followed by a 17-minute shuttle ride on the shuttle “Bus Stade” provided before and after each match. This option is recommended for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM), and a dedicated team will be available to guide and assist people with disabilities during their journey.
- Bus line 18: Stop at Versailles directly in front of the stadium.
Note that to facilitate smooth travel to and from the stadium during the Olympics, arrival at the stadium will be through the 4 Cantons station (M1), while the return journey will exclusively depart from the Cité Scientifique station (M1). The transportation services will be significantly enhanced with schedules tailored to match times. It is strongly advised to arrive at the stadium at least 1 hour and 30 minutes before each session.
→ Purchase your transport tickets from the automatic machines at each station or at Ilévia agencies. The stations mentioned above are equipped with Open Payment, allowing you to quickly access the gates by presenting your contactless payment method directly (€2 for 1 hour in the metro).

Bike lanes are available from Lille to easily and safely reach the stadium. You will find around a hundred sheltered bike parking spaces on the forecourt of Stade Pierre-Mauroy and a monitored, free parking area near Parking C1 for bikes and electric scooters.
The V’lille bike-sharing system provides a convenient alternative with stations near the stadium (4 Vents, Héron Parc, and V2 Shopping Center). A deposit of €200 is required, and usage costs only €1.80 for 24 hours of unlimited rentals. The first 30 minutes are free, then €1.15 per additional half-hour.

The stadium, located in Villeneuve d’Ascq, is at the intersection of several highways marked “Grand Stade” or “Stade Pierre-Mauroy” (A25 – A1 – A23 – A27 – A22 – RN227). It is advised by the organizers to follow the signs to parkings B and C and to reserve your spot in advance. See the parking map.
Holders of a Pass Pass card from the Ilévia network have free access to several park-and-ride (P+R) facilities, allowing them to park easily and avoid traffic jams by using public transportation afterwards.
Other underground parkings in the city center are also available and close to the metro stations.

Lille and the Flanders region are renowned for their traditional and craft beers. You’ll find numerous local breweries where you can visit the production process and, of course, enjoy tasting unique beers right in their Tap Room. You can also take home local bottles as souvenirs!

Indulge in regional flavors at Estaminets, typical Flemish inns that offer a warm and friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy traditional dishes from Flanders. Among these specialties, don’t miss out on Welsh rarebit, Flemish beef stew (carbonnade), chicken with Maroilles cheese, waterzooi, or potjevleesch! You’ll easily find delicious fries and local beers everywhere.

Olympics Events and Animations :
Enjoy multiple events and activities organized in Lille in connection with the Paris 2024 Olympic Games:
- Olympic Village on the Grand’Place: animations and initiations to basketball, handball, and climbing (daily from 12 pm to 6 pm).
- Video Mapping projected on the Opera every evening from 10:30 pm on July 27th to August 11th. Place du Théâtre in Lille.
- The Van MEL, located at Place des Buisses, will offer free quizzes, games, photobooth, augmented reality, arcade games…
- The exhibition “Textimoov!” is a project around innovative textiles related to sports, which is part of the Cultural Olympiad and can be visited at Tripostal, 22 av. Willy Brandt (entrance up to 11€).
- Block Parties and various events labeled by Paris 2024 will showcase sports and urban culture throughout the summer in various neighborhoods (Faubourg de Béthune, Fives, Wazemmes, Moulins, Bois Blancs, Lille Sud, Vieux Lille).
- “Lille Gastronomy and Beer Experience“: discover the best of local gastronomy with guided tours and tastings led by beer experts and regional chefs!
- The special exhibition “Vas-y champion” at the Birthplace of Charles de Gaulle reflects on sports and youth after the Second World War, under the presidency of General de Gaulle. The museum is located at 9 rue Princesse in Vieux Lille, and the full ticket entry is 6€.
